” I am deeply inspired by society, which is often the subject of my works. Since 2009 I work on a concept that I call Liquid Painting. It is born from the necessity to express contemporary society’s new characteristics. It is strongly influenced by Zygmunt Bauman’s concept of Liquid Modernity who describes the metamorphosis of modernity going from a solid to a liquid phase, characterized by a loss of solid references and a society in constant change. To cope citizens have to become fluid. Similarly, my Liquid Paintings have lost the part that could give them any solidity, i.e.: the support. Thus, there is no canvas, wood, paper or any other type of material that could keep the painting in shape. The work can hang by its own weight or adapt to any shape over which it rests. Figurative or abstract, it becomes material and subject. I use this fact to conduct a pictorial exploration on the materiality of paint, and its intrinsic relationship with light, creating, sometimes forms and volumes by gluing it, pinning it, etc. onto a support, other times, searching for new relationships paint-support, or just by revealing its condition of surface, container of the creative process, from the initial drawing and the first brush strokes to the final image. “
