Exhibition “Heroin”. The art of Rayk Goetze merges different painting techniques and is situated between figuration and abstraction. It can be compared to dynamic collages full of vitality. The artist refers to Renaissance painting in his composite works, which take an ironic look at the contemporary world. Rayk Goetze’s figurative paintings are a succession of open windows with their own intensity inviting us to a pictorial quest. He creates updated connotations in a historical setting, without denying his old masterful tendencies, but allowing them to interact in a progressive understanding of them. This is perhaps comparable to a palimpsest, whose process of rewriting makes a new creation possible. In this way, Goetze tends to transform his technique of motif painting into a dialectical discourse, using a differentiated surface design. Julia Weber M.A.
