“From the Epure to the Essential” Podbielski creates a mineral journey through his memories of travels, the cultures he encountered, the differences he encountered, a journey imbued with his own discoveries, his own feelings. Under the sign of abstraction, the shapes and colours of his sculptures tend to purify the essential. A totally ambidextrous sculptor, Podbielski fully grasps the three dimensions in their entirety and in the complexity of their different planes. This rare faculty allows him to access the pure technique of sculpture, that of direct carving. Blocks of marble, granite or aerated concrete lose weight under the notches that guide his inspiration. Removing the right amount of material means progressing without return. Any addition is banned. Here, there is no room for repetitions. Podbielski’s work purifies forms without concession, in his own image. But he is also sensitive, because balance is his quest. We are here at the sources of sculpture where each original piece implies a presence, evokes an abstract world, a developed aspect of femininity, a colour, a form as a representation of cultural diversity. You only have to look differently to appreciate, to immerse yourself in timelessness! Marc Pointud, Expert
